Here’s another one of mine.
I’ve always been fond of sweet angle-y VTOLs, and I was quite pleased with how this one turned out. Not to mention its enthusiastic reception on MOCpages. 72 likes and 1700 visitors? That’s what I’m talking about.
Been a while since I posted a MOC of my own, so here we go.
More details and pictures are here.
A group of builders at Brickworld Chicago 2014 (one of the biggest LEGO conventions in the country) had a collaborative retelling of the classic 1987 movie The Princess Bride.
Starting off, we have Fred Savage’s Bedroom, built by Casey McCoy.
“Is this a kissing story?”
The Shrieking Eels, built by Ben Merrill.
“No more rhymes now, and I mean it!” “Anybody want a peanut?”
One of my favorite scenes, the Inigo vs. Westley duel by Daniel Church.
“You seem a decent fellow, I hate to kill you.” “You seem a decent fellow, I hate to die.”
Fezzik vs. Westley by Casey McCoy.
“Frankly, I think the odds are slightly in your favor at hand fighting.”
The Battle of Wits built by Daniel Church.
“You fell victim to one of the classic blunders – The most famous of which is ‘never get involved in a land war in Asia’ – but only slightly less well-known is this: ‘Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!'”
The Fire Swamp built by Max Pointner.
“Rodents of Unusual Size? I don’t think they exist.”
The Pit of Despair by Ian Spacek.
“And remember, this is for posterity so be honest. How do you feel?” [whimpers] “Interesting.”
Miracle Max by Paul Vermeesch.
“Look who knows so much! It just so happens that your friend here is only MOSTLY dead.”
Storming the Castle by Lee Muzzy.

“First things first, to the death.” “No! To the pain!”
Miniland Westley and Buttercup by Casey McCoy.
“As you wish.”
And, last but most certainly not least, Boo! by Casey McCoy.
“Bow to the Queen of Slime, the Queen of Filth, the Queen of Putrescence! Boo! Boo!”
Here’s a video highlight of the collaboration, filmed by Beyond the Brick.
To all of the builders who participated in this collaboration, very well done! This is one of my favorite LEGO projects that I’ve seen this year, and now I totally want to watch the movie again.
Macsen Wledig posted this MOC of Hadrian’s wall throughout the years.
I really like the “progression of time” approach he took to this. It’s not often that a builder MOCs the same subject at different points during its lifetime. Not only that, but these are fantastically and realistically detailed.
You can read the builder’s commentary and see some larger pictures on Eurobricks.
